28 big, stout, rugged bulls will be offered for sale on February 21, 2004. The first buyer present willing to pay the stated price will purchase the animal. In keeping with fairness, absolutely no bulls will be reserved or sold in advance of the February 21 sale date.

How Will Private Treaty Work?
These bulls will be offered for sale beginning Saturday, February 21st.
The first vehicle in line behind our truck will have first choice of bulls at the pre-set prices. The next vehicle will make selections from the remaining bulls. At our current herd size we do not have enough bulls to have a traditional sale. We hope to have a traditional sale every other year. We feel private treaty is the fairest way to sell our bulls this year.

Why Buy Donnell and Donnell Bulls?
We have the best bulls we have ever had! A lot of thought went into the mating of these animals. The sires of these bulls were selected from the top ten bulls, based on the number of calves sired and registered in 2003. You can find this information in the American Angus records. We picked out the best bull for each individual cow.
• AI sire 1407 is the reigning carcass king. He has it all!
LOW BIRTH HIGH GROWTH and EXCELLENT CARCASS
• AI sire 878 was the # 1 bull used in 2003.
LOW BIRTH & GOOD GROWTH, GREAT CARCASS
• AI sire 036 is the sire of both 1407, 878, and our herd bull 0252.
GREAT BIRTH, GROWTH, CARCASS, FRAME. NO HOLES!
• AI sire 377 is the reigning growth king!
EXCELLENT GROWTH, RIBEYE, AND FRAME.
All bulls have been wormed, vaccinated, and had a breeding soundness exam provided by Cottage Farm Genetics on January 29, 2004.

Our Herd Bulls- 9218 and 0252 Please do not over look animals sired by our herd bulls because they have the pedigree and genetics to match any of the top AI sires. 0252 is sired by 036. 9218 is sired by SAF Neurton, the same sire as 377. Many large seedstock producers have selected maternal brothers to these bulls for their herd. Many AI studs are full and 3/4 brothers to one of these bulls. GREAT BIRTH, GROWTH, WITH EXCELLENT CARCASS

Why We Use Only Proven Bulls for our Sires.
Proven Bulls are more predictable, more accurate, and will yield higher profits.

Why is this Important to YOU?
Accuracy is very important when selecting genetics. There is less risk and have more potential for profit.
The more data we have on a bull, the more we are able to project how his calves will turn out.
For example:
1407 has 411 daughters in production in 86 different herds. He has 3460 calves ultrasounded in 1192 different groups.
878 has 434 daughters in production in 161 different herds. He has 3681 calves ultrasounded in 1407 different groups.
036 has 3599 daughters in production in 965 different herds. He has 6671 calves ultrasounded in 2557 different groups.
377 has 73 daughters in production in15 different herds. He has 643 calves ultrasounded in 197 different groups.
*This data came from producers all over the United States and was compiled by the American Angus Association.

Why have our Bulls/Heifers been ultrasounded?
We ultrasound our cattle to determine the value of their carcass without harvesting, Ultrasounding allows a peak at your Christmas present without opening the package. Ultrasounding tells us what the animal will yield in marbling, ribeye and fat. We ultrasound our females to see their carcass so we can make more informed mating decisions. This is important to you because these carcass traits are passed on to the calves that the bulls with sire.

Why Buy Now?
Cattle prices are high with forecasts estimated to remain high. Cattle prices in 2003 were at an all time high. After the “Mad Cow Disease’ scare prices have stayed positive. Predictions for the cattle market estimate prices to stay above average during the next year.

Full Possession/ Full Salvage Bulls
Full Possession means the buyer has full rights & full possession to do as he pleases with the bull.
Full salvage means the buyer receives 100% of the money when the bull the bull is sold.
Retaining 1/3 semen interest means that if one of the five indicated bulls is ‘found’ by a company who sells semen, then the buyer receives 2/3 semen profit and D&D receives the remaining 1/3. The purchase of a bull stud is a very rare occurrence, but profitable to all those involved. Both our herd bulls were sold to us with the breeder retaining 1/3 semen interest. Since neither bull has been found by a semen house, it hasn’t affected our purchase of the bulls.

We invite you to come by and look at our bulls anytime. They will be easier to see the three days before the sale because we will have them moved to the lot where they normally are for each sale. (Feb 18, 19, 20th). Feel free to call and visit with us at anytime. We welcome any questions.
